Physical Education

Our P.E. curriculum is designed with the following aims in mind:

Intent

  • Children will become increasingly Physically Literate.

  • Children will develop a lifelong love and understanding of physical activity.

  • Children will know and understand the importance of physical activity and fitness for wellbeing.

  • Children will be given the skills and knowledge to improve their own engagement with all forms of physical activity.

 

Implementation

  • Children will be taught a Physical Literacy curriculum that allows for physical skill progression in the key skills for movement and health for life.

  • Children will be given and understand the purpose behind each module.

  • Children will be given the opportunity to express their Physical skills through performance in as many forms as they would like to.

  • Children will be inspired by sport and sporting figures where possible.

 

Impact

  • Attitudes to activity and a healthy lifestyle will be evident and voiced by pupils and their lifestyle choices.

  • All children have a preferred activity that they can name as something they will continue after leaving the school.

  • Children are increasingly Physically Literate.

  • Children can apply physical competencies in a range of settings upon entry to secondary school.
