Design & Technology

 Our Design Technology curriculum has been created with the following aims in mind:

Intent:

• Children are experts at designing, making and evaluating their own and others products

• They develop technical vocabulary

• They can use a range of tools safely and accurately, assessing the risk as they go

• Children develop a love of cooking and show an understanding of the importance of a healthy, balanced diet

Implementation:

• Forest School sessions focus on providing opportunities for designing and making with different practical functions, to solve a range of problems

• They are taught to critically evaluate their work and compare it with that of others

• Design technology will also be taught within the context of a wider topic

•  There are also opportunities for cooking in Forest School and in the classroom

 Impact:

 The impact will be seen through:

• Children enjoy designing and making products

• They adapt and improve their design following feedback and constructive criticism

• Children confidently and safely use tools and cook food safely

•  Children use age appropriate technical language to describe the process of designing, making and evaluating products
