R.E.

Our Religious Education curriculum is designed with the following aims in mind:

Intent

  • We want our children to understand and respect different religions and to be tolerant of those with different faiths and of those with none.

  • RE will enable pupils to explore meaning and purpose in their lives.

  • RE aims to help pupils develop the ability to make reasoned and informed judgements about the religions and moral issues which arise from reflection on human experience and a study of religious belief and practice.

Implementation

  • We use the using North Yorkshire SACRE recommended planning to deliver RE lessons at our school.

  • We have carefully mapped our R.E curriculum, so that children’s knowledge, skills and subject specific vocabulary are built sequentially over time.

  • Lessons will be taught through questioning, experiences, hot seating (people of faith), visits (places of worship) and exploring artefacts, stories and images.

Impact

  • To have a better understanding of what they and others believe in and accept that they may differ.

Parents and Carers have the right to withdraw their child from all or part of RE lessons. Please speak with your child’s class teacher
